Weather forecast advice for film production, commercial photographic shoots and related endeavors is custom tailored for any scenario worldwide, dependent upon desired elements and duration of exposure to the outdoors.

A significant advantage of Real Weather's custom-tailored service rendered to productions is confidence in scheduling outdoor versus indoor shoots. Forecast advice for optimal outdoor shoot "weather-windows" also reduces costs in meeting deadlines, budget for actors, etc.

Basic forecast support includes one dedicated meteorologist to work in direct communication with single or multiple decision makers as needed to complete the shoot within the optimal weather conditions preferred. A general overview of the weather pattern in the area(s) of the world where the shoots(s) will be focused is provided for the pre-planning forecast phase in an easy-to-follow hard copy forecast for a period (days/week) leading up to the active production phase. Once production is full-on, specific, detailed forecasts will provide timely advice of weather impact for the location. Specific forecast conditions discussed most often include:

  • amount of cloud coverage relative to light values
  • visibility obstructions (fog, haze)
  • wind (direction, speeds and potential for strong or erratic gusts)
  • precipitation potential (including thunderstorms)
  • sea state (height, direction, velocity and transition phase)
         [typical for on-water, marine shoots]
  • hurricane watch (protection, evacuation advice as needed)
  • any other meteorological or environmental factors deemed to be of significance can be researched for production as needed)
Custom forecast advice is beneficial for film scheduling, equipment staging and determining site selection. Advanced knowledge of timing of short- and long-range weather conditions, ultimately saves production time, reduces uncertainty and tension and, most importantly, reduces unnecessary costs. RealWeather emphasizes direct one-on-one support, which includes web-access to hardcopy forecast details and trends, and verbal contacts as needed to discuss any real-time weather issues that may require immediate attention.
