Susan- I'm writing to say thank you for all of your help and support in providing fast accurate forecasts for our production. Our production company gave us an incredibly difficult location for a marine shoot. These are the largest and most expensive "water movies" ever made. We had six 100' sets shoe horned into a small marina which had no protection from the SE - SW. It's amazing that the sets survived until the end of the show. We would come to work each morning and assess whether we would be able to shoot or not. On these marginal weather days, production would look to me to decide if it was safe to work on the water. At the end of each day the discussion would always shift to "what's the weather forecast for tomorrow?" I always carried your latest forecast in my pocket ready to go! The Pirates of the Caribbean marine department relied heavily on your forecasts to plan our days' work. Thanks- Susan- P2 and P3 is a unique undertaking not only in its unprecedented scope, but in that a significant fraction of the filming has been done at sea not in a tank, but in the Atlantic, and in the Caribbean, on boats, at sea. Mother Nature is truly a partner in the production of these films. When the weather is fine, it is rarely given a second thought. But when the weather does become a factor, because of the thousands of dollars we have invested in every minute, it becomes absolutely critical to have the most accurate forecasts available. That's what you've provided us, several times a week, for just about a year now without exception. |
